PSI for Deck Cleaning and Other Projects

Published by SidingPro on Tagged Home Improvement

Many exterior cleaning projects around your home and property can be accomplished with a pressure washer. The proper way to tackle these projects is to use the appropriate cleaners so that extreme high pressure is not needed. Too much pressure when deck cleaning can easily damage the wood, vinyl siding and brick mortar as well as other surfaces.

When using a good house or deck wash you can use less pressure, eliminating the risk of damage, and still achieve great results. The way the pressure is lowered on a pressure washing unit is by changing the nozzle at the end of the wand. Usually the nozzles that come with the unit are designed to allow for the maximum amount of pressure in various fan degrees.

It will probably be necessary to obtain different nozzles from a power washer dealer to achieve a lower pressure. Tell them what you plan on washing and they will be able to suggest what pressure you should be at and will sell you the appropriate sized nozzle.
